My name is Anastasia. I love creating striking special effects applications and visual effects. This website is a portfolio of all of the pieces that I have created.

 

I believe that if you do what you love you will have a fulfilling life full of ambition, enthusiasm and success. I love the concept of special effects through computer generation, prosthetic application and animatronics. The idea of being able to create something from a fantasy, make someone look like a monster, or bring to life a robot which an audience have the ability to have an affinity with is truly amazing to me, and this is why I have chosen to study Special Effects at University.

Five years ago I went to a "Horror Makeup Show" in Orlando. This was the initiation of my interest in special effects.   I found many tutorials online that I followed to start building up my skills in creating simple prosthetics. As my passion increased, I invested in literature like Special Makeup Effects for Stage and Screen by Todd Debreceni. I found that there was a lot more to the subject such as creature design created using Computer Aided Design and also Computer Generated Imagery, all used to develop initial prosthetics, or replacing the physical special effects.

 

I also discovered animatronics, a form of robotics that is used to bring a robot to "life". This, along with a school trip to Silicone Valley, introduced me to the idea of robotics in more detail and the wonders it provides. Following this, I set up and ran my own school Robotics Club. This allowed me to share my knowledge and also develop my

leadership, communication and organisational skills, planning group activities. I linked this with the leadership program that I was involved in and ended up creating a very successful club, presenting at the RSA in London my journey to set it up and the challenges that I faced.​
